A side channel blower (also known as a regenerative or ring blower) is a tough, oil-free air pump. It moves a large volume of air at a steady pressure or suction, runs relatively quietly, and has just one moving part, so it needs very little maintenance and tends to last for years.
A powerful 4 kW motor makes this a large, high-output machine, moving up to 120 cubic metres of air per hour. It can blow air at up to 820 mbar of pressure or pull a vacuum of up to 500 mbar. As a rule of thumb, the bigger these numbers, the more push or pull the blower can deliver. It runs from an ordinary single-phase electrical supply, so it is straightforward to install without special wiring.
Being a two-stage (double) blower, it develops noticeably more pressure and suction than a single-stage unit of a similar size. That makes it a good choice when the job needs stronger push or pull rather than sheer volume of air.
Typically used for: aerating fish farms, ponds and wastewater treatment tanks; pneumatic conveying of powders and granules along pipework; supplying air to packaging and blown-film lines.
